Teamsters Local 705 Secreatary-Treasurer Juan Campos and the Union bargaining committee is presenting proposals as negotations begin bewtween Local 705 and UPS. As negotiations begin with UPS Sectary-Treasurer Campos felt it was important to ensure that members know what is being bargain for and what is being proposed to be taken away by UPS management.
Secretary -Treasurer Juan Campos Keeps His Word - Quarterly Meetings for Kankakee Members
Recently Local 705 leadership traveled to the Kankakee Area to begin holding its Quarterly meetings with members who work in Kankakkee and Iroquois Counties. This area is under 705 jurisdiction and Juan Campos felt its necessary to ensure that this members not only feel as though they are an important part of the Local Union, but ensure that they are actively involved with their Local Union.
Moving Forward Slate Elected to Serve its Fourth 3 Year Term
The vote count for Juan Campos as head of the Moving Forward Slate was 3618. The vote count for John Boettinger as head of the New Era Slate was 724. Certified details of the election are attached.

Teamsters Local 705 and Local 70 continued their fight on securing pension and healthcare for their members at Nexeo Solutions / TPG Capital. Local 705 Representatives, John Siebert, Rich de Vries and retiree George Sterba traveled to San Francisco to protest against “Vulture Capitalist” and “Corporate Greed” at the 2012 Super-Investor Conference held at Fairmont Hotel & Convention Center on Feb 1, 2012. A special thanks to Teamsters Local 70 President Dom Chiovare, Business Agent Bob Aiello and retired members, Mike Castro and Joe Villarreal for participating in the demonstration fight.
“We have staged many of these demonstrations across the country and have great support from Local 70” said Neil Messino, Teamsters Local 705 Contract Administrator “ We will continue to apply pressure at the table and away from the table to restore these members terms and conditions and most important their Pensions”.
Teamsters Local 705 represents 35 members at Nexeo Solutions located in Willow Springs, Il and are currently in successor negotiations and the Company has unilaterally changed the terms and conditions of the expired Collective Bargaining Agreement. Local 705 has pending Unfair Labor Charges with the NLRB Region 13 and the Region has given merit to the Unions’ charge. Local 705 has a hearing date set to begin the week of April 2,2012.
In November of 2010 Ashland Inc. announced the sale of one of its subsidiaries, Ashland Distribution, which has several facilities across the country with employees represented by the Teamsters Union. On April 1, 2011 the sale was final and the company is now known as Nexeo Solutions LLC.
As of April 1, Nexeo has unilaterally implemented changes to both existing and expired collective bargaining agreements across the country. They have drastically increased health care costs and reduced coverage to each Employee while decreasing the company’s costs. In the Willow Springs, IL facility, Nexeo has implemented a new retirement plan. They replaced the Teamsters Local 705 Pension Plan, a multi-employer defined benefit plan, with a Company defined contribution (401K) plan.
TPG Capital utilizes substantial monies invested from many pension plans across the country to invest in companies such as Nexeo Solutions. They are now unilaterally implementing Employees out of these Plans.
